The FAA’s new MOSAIC rule expands privileges for Light Sport pilots—opening the door to fly a wider range of aircraft, including more complex and higher-performing models. With this change, the skies just got a whole lot bigger.
At Jeff Air Pilot Services, we’re here to help you take advantage of these new opportunities. While the Cessna 172 is not classified as a Light Sport Aircraft, it is Light Sport eligible. That means current Light Sport license holders can get checked out and receive the proper instructor endorsement documented in their logbook to rent and fly our 172—including for night flying.
Please note: Jeff Air does not offer Light Sport license training, but we welcome Light Sport pilots who want to expand their flying experience and join our rental program.

Can Light Sport pilots rent from Jeff Air?
Yes! While we don’t train for the Light Sport license, Light Sport–certified pilots can rent our Cessna 172 after receiving a proper endorsement from a Jeff Air instructor, noted in their logbook. This includes authorization for night flying once endorsed.
